So long, farewell, auf Wiedersehen, adieu!

Adieu, adieu, to yieu and yieu and yieu!

Off to France later ... no worries about the super-slow French dial-up Internet, because this year there is no Internet. Yep, that's right no Internet! Did you feel that? That was the hair on the back of my neck standing straight up!! A whole month - with no Internet. Can you imagine what that feels like anymore? Do you remember? How did we cope? I'm sure *crosses fingers* that the weather will make up for it - and I shall get on to France Telecom for the APs to demand* information on when service will be resumed!

So, until late August - have fun, take care, be good :o)

* Anyone out there who knows anything about French bureaucracy knows that this demand will be ignored and some little despot in the Telecom office will simply look down his beaky nose at me and shrug in a way that only Gallic despots can!

**slapping face to encourage wakefulness**

Oh boy, tired and busy week!

Sunday ~ return trip from Northumberland. Takeaway and cards to say goodbye to Leah with the crowd from poker.

Monday ~ goodbye to all the kiddies! Followed by dinner and greyhound racing at the stadium in Crayford. I'd never been before - it was the end of year night out. What a laugh .... don't think I need to go again for a while but fun all the same.

Tuesday ~ finishing party for the staff who are leaving, I got to make 2 speeches!!!!! You can't imagine how much that appealed. But it was nice to spend time with friends and spend some time time with old friends too.

Wednesday ~ ... can I let you know later?

Blog Fodder #19 - #24

So Blog Fodder has been back and I've missed 6 weeks - what a slacker I am! So here's an almighty catch-up.

Question #19 came from Gopher, of “The Ramblings of a Scottish Gopher.”
Define your musical tastes in 10 songs.

1. So, I'm a little bit disco ~ Boogie Wonderland
2. A little bit "rock disco" ~ Waterloo
3. A little bit old school rock ~ Sweet Home Alabama
4. Well maybe a big bit old school rock ~ Wishing Well
5. A little bit new romantic ~ Planet Earth
6. A lot country ~ She's in love with the boy
7. Copperhead Road
8. A little bit folkie ~ Big Yellow Taxi
9. And finally, I'm a lot Welsh ~ Road Rage
10. Mama told me not to Come (Tom Jones and Stereophonics version!)

And that's not even half of it because I didn't get to mention what I am currently listening to ~ Mika, KT Tunstall, The Kaiser Chiefs, the gorgeous Jack, Snow Patrol and The Fratellis.

Question #20 came from Kevin, from "One Rainy Day".
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up and why?

As a kid, I wanted to be something very prosaic, like a primary school teacher. I was very aware of one particular teacher who ritually humiliated the children in her class and I didn't think that was right. I knew that as a teacher I wouldn't do that - and what do you know, here I am 27 years later doing just that!

#21 was set by margalitc, over at What was I Thinking?
What was the catalyst for the time when you REALLY went over the edge temper-wise?

My husband knows just the buttons to press and so it seems does my mother in law. 2 weekends ago she ragged at her youngest grand-daughter so much that it made me want to explode! It's that ritual humiliation thing again - I loathe it!

Question #22 comes from Truth, over at Piece of the Puzzle.
What is the best kitchen gadget that you own that you can’t live without?

I used to have a wooden lemon juicer, it was like a handle with the juicer bit on the end and it was fabulous!! In fact beyond fabulous. Or as they'd say in Wales "fabulous beyond"! It broke, years ago and I've never been able to replace it. I'd probably sell/swap my husband for a new one of those! It looked like this. I've seen Nigella using one and let's face it ... if the Domestic Goddess says it's good enough for her, then it's good enough for me!

Question #23 is Toy Reviews' topic.
You get to “restart” your life at any age. When, and why?

17 - I'd have doen a little better at A levels and would have started teaching sooner!

And finally, *preens smugly* I think you'll find that's me up to date!

Question #24 from Karen, of Karen Writes.
What fashion trend you followed was very cool then, but now looks ridiculous?

Just 2 little words are enough answer for this one - leg warmers! Need I say more?

This week, it could only happen to a teacher ...

Walking across the playground on Tuesday morning. Knowing that football is only allowed on the field* - we have handball courts on the playground. I see a year six boy kicking a tennis ball to his mates and say in a loud, clear voice ...

"M, you know your balls shouldn't be anywhere near your feet! You lot should only be playing with your balls with your hands!"

I then had to go to the aid of my colleague who was laughing so much he developed a hernia. My face was scarlet. Every single lad in year six was howling with laughter!

Yesterday afternoon J comes running too me in the nursery shouting "R has had an accident, he's pulled the knob off the toilet door. I walk into the toilet and say "R where are you?" A little voice comes from the last cubicle so I walk over, peer over the top to discsover that the knob has in fact come unscrewed. "No problem R" I say "give the knob to me and I'll screw it back on."** R passes me the knob and I begin to screw it on when I suddenly realise it's slightly wet.

So I say "this is wet R, what happened?" Where upon he points to the pale yellowy water in the toilet bowl and said "it went down there, I got it out for you!"

To some extent I am dreading today!!

* We're truly not being nasties it's to protect the littlies from flying footballs. They get to play football / soccer on the field every day.
** Luckily my littlies in the nursery are too young to catch me out on that first very obvious double entendre!
