So, as you know I go over daily to Indigo's Q.O.T.D. to battle with Haloscan. I suddenly realised this week that if I answer my questions at lunchtime in work ... picture me, sarnie and a cup-a-soup banging away at the keyboard in the ICT suite, crumbs flying into the keyboard ... Haloscan just lets me ~ finally!!! Hurrah!

But also this week, I was asked to join the Q.O.T.D. team, cue even bigger hurrah! So come on over and answer my question, which is ....

Out of the mouths of babes

Our last little gaggle of three year olds started last Wednesday. The tiny little ones. Including 2 screamers ~ luckily 1 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon ... I don't know what we'd have done if they'd been in the same session :o)

Anyway one of them a little girl Lauren was so very brave on Wednesday, after the first initial screams (as I wrestled her away from Mum and Dad) we went to the book corner and had a bit of a read and she calmed right down. However the rest of the morning was spent repeating the same script

Lauren ~ Mummy coming for me soon.

Me ~ Yes, darling, she'll be here soon.

Lauren ~ *big brave smile* Coming in a minute?

Me ~ Yes that's right in a minute.

At 11.30 she leapt off the steps into her dad's arms and happily went off chattering to them / herself. When Thursday morning came around Lauren was wise to my wrestling techniques and I had to pry her off Mum like a limpet. Dad rang mid-morning (obviously worried about his little darling) and we had a long chat. I comforted this man-mountain (6' 4" and probably 25 stone +) and he left his mobile phone number so we could ring if she got too upset. And at 11.30 he arrived on his own and she leapt again to shouts of "my daddy."

And then on Thursday night tragedy struck. Lauren's daddy was killed in a car crash on the way home from work. What do you say? 34 years old, 2 young children. Gone.

Yesterday morning at snack time I noticed rain clouds rolling in and pointed them out to the children.

Me ~ Gosh look at those huge rain clouds. I think we'll need our wellies and brollies on the way home don't you?

Lauren ~ Mummy says my daddy's up there. Watching me. He can see me all the time.

Me ~ *through tears* Yes darlin' he can.

I love Indigo's site Question of the Day but as some of you may, or may not know ... halsocan has a problem with me; or rather my PC has a problem with it. What is the largest city you've ever visited?
Probably London ... but it's not my favourite, I love Dublin ~ so friendy eventhough someone tried to steal Ruth's purse out of her handbag.

How many bottles of beer are on the wall?
It's early in the morning after the night before ... there are no bottles of beer on the wall BUT the recycling bin looks healthy. By the way, it was ice cold Singha and it was delicious :o)

What is the most that you're willing to pay for a pair of jeans? What if the fit was as if they were made just for you -- would you be willing to pay a premium?
I'd pay £70 ... and I'd need them to be fabulous for that price. I know, that's not a lot but I don't actually wear jeans all that often.

Yesterday, from my lap

At story time yesterday afternoon one of my 3 year olds crawled into my lap ... they do this a lot. You're a bit like an extension of their mother. Their property.

B ~ But I want to sit on your lap.

Me ~ Well, sit on Mrs H's lap instead then.

B ~ But yours is softer!

Little snippets of stuff

I don't have enough, in my head for a post but I have little snippety bits and then I'm off to do my rounds!

So, the summer ... France was lovely but a little soggy. Just like the UK, the hot dry weather seemed to have been kept especially for term time ~ hot in July and September with plenty of rain throughout August. It's not that there was no sun ... rather that there was plenty of rain to keep the dust down! The rain did make for great canoeing though as there was more water in the Dordogne than I've seen for many a year! So here, to keep the readers happy a few canoeing photos!

Simon and Steve had a lads day out ... they went to Andorra, just an excuse to drive fast through the mountains if you ask me. The weather and the scenery were stunning and it was very peaceful at the water park ... which is where we ended up!

In a complete change of subject school started for real last week. We've had a week of "come along, bring your child and have fun for an hour or so" but on Tuesday they came back for good! It's been fun but by golly it's hard work! They move fast the little ones but they're very sweet :o)

Had a very quiet weekend, shopping in Tesco* and lots of housework ... never thrilling! It was a bit of a downer after last weekend when I left work in a flurry on Friday evening and went to Brighton to stay with Kev. We stayed in and shared a bottle or two of Isla Negra on Friday night, then walked the Lanes in the sunshine and had a fabulous meal out with friends (Simon came too) on Saturday. I never get enough time to spend with him ~ my husband's unreasonable jealousy doesn't help this situation!

Anyway it's Monday, so I'd better shift my arse and get to work! Have a fab week everyone!

Hello!

Gosh, look how long it is since I last posted!

I am still here honest but there's nothing interesting happening 'cept school, oh and school! This will probably give me an ooomph though ... with any luck that is!

Homeward Bound!

And so all good things come to an end as they must and tomorrow I am travelling north once again to go home – boo! Simon left for home last Sunday but of course being a teacher I go to stay on … however there is no truth in the rumour that I went into teaching for the summer holidays. Honest! Our ferry is at 9pm tomorrow and then next Monday I have to go back to work.

Now, those of you who know me will be astonished by this early return as you realise that I wouldn’t normally come back to the UK until the very last minute possible ~ they don’t call me last minute fly by the seat of my pants Annie for nothing. But Wednesday the 30th is a pretty special day as I’ll be off to Wales to help my Nana celebrate her 90th birthday!

So, here’s to another French broadband free holiday almost over … see you all soon :o)

Finally ...

I have managed to get online! And this afternoon we are off to talk to Mr French Broadband! Hurrah! But other than that not a lot happening really ... some poolside relaxation, a 7* course meal out with a friend of the AP's, arrival of other friends and putting up of their trailer tent. Luckily I have a car here to go and collect Simon on Sunday as he's bringing my phone charger .... how naturally blonde is that?
