Friday's Feast

I feel a meme coming on ...

Appetizer :: If you were a color, which color would you be, and why? No surprises here, I'd be lilacy or light purple! I find shades of lilac so calming ... no stress, relaxation, summertime colours. Summer is when I'm at my happiest ~ life outdoors, warm weather ... deliciously lilac!

Soup :: When was the last time you went to the doctor, and what was your reason for going? Gosh, I went to the doctor last October ... blood pressure check (joy oh joy) ... here Mrs L have these water tablets! Pssss ... that's the constant peeing since!

Salad :: What do you collect? I don't collect anything. I vaguely remember collecting stamps whilst in school and having a huge "anything and everything Duran Duran" thing going on in the mid 80s. Ah, Roger Taylor was so cute ... drummers did it for me!

Main Course :: What were you like in high school? Name one thing you miss and one thing you don't miss about those days. (If you're still there, imagine how you'll remember it in the future.) I was the quiet one, I had a small group of mixed friends who I still see on the odd occasion (I wish it were more often but geographical constraints make it difficult). That's about it really ~ I was good at languages (French, German, Welsh and a smattering of Spanish) maths and geography (with the wonderful Mr Hughes), I swam and I played hockey ... in goal!

I think more than anything I missed learning ... or I did in my life before teaching came along. When I left school at almost 18 after flunking my "A" levels [... did I mention that I discovered men?] I went to work in the Land Registry in Swansea ~ I painted maps and went home at 4.30 each day and I hated it!! In 1993 I made the decision to apply to the University of Wales as a mature student (my mother has since admitted she thought I was "off my trolley") and graduated with a B Ed in July 1996. I still love learning, I love the awe and wonder on children's faces as they learn / discover / grow!

What don't I miss ~ the ability that your peer group has to look at you and say exactly the thing that will hurt you the most! I sincerely hope that I was never one of the people who made a hurtful comment and that those who made more than a few to me have matured and "grown."

Dessert :: Pretend you're standing in front of your home, with your back towards your home. Describe the view - what can you see? Trees? Cars? A zoo? Wal-Mart? I live in a residential neighborhood, so I can see houses ~ 1930s (Edwardian) terraced houses, complete with a grassy bank in front of them and trees. If I slipped my shoes on and skipped 2 minutes down the road I'd see the mighty river Medway, yachts, a bit of beach and the country park!

What, no cheese course?
No coffee?
No petit-fours?
You all should come to my house for dinner ... you'd get them then!

So a cheese and biscuits question for those sitting at the dinner table Chez le Laquet ... please, lay down your napkin and tell me ~ who would you like to reminisce with most from your school days & what would you talk about?

So I'm first ... but then I was expecting the post!

So, I wanted you to know that I'd love to sit down over a bottle of red wine with Elizabeth Hawes who I was in school with, chew the fat laugh and generally catch up! She had such a great sense of humour and I would love to know where she is now!!

I had the opportunity to meet up with my two closest school friends but I ducked out of it..too chicken you see... they have never seen the grown up (and out) me.
Didn;t want the questions .I sent one an e-mail of my graduation and it has never been replied to!!

Did I tell you that they bullied me before we became firm fave friends.. I guess some of those feeling must have lingered on both sides

Righty 9 don't need to get ups YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

I would love to spend more time with my friend Rehanna. We only went to college for like 6 months, but the friendship was sealed tight and although we only get to see each other about once every 12 months, it's like we've never been apart.

I miss her terribly...we went back to our old college a few years ago on the weekend to reminisce. Found a door open, so we wandered through the corridors and found old pics of ourselves on the walls...it was great! lol

I guess it would be my space science teacher. We had some fun building things together like the rockets and airplanes and the telescope we used to check out the girls school half a mile up the street.
He was an ecsentric but fun person. I don't think anyone ever failed his class.
My favorite color would be black

Hmm
I love lilac. Cheer up - spring is on its way.
I only failed 2 of my A levels - I got kicked out of the other one for never doing any homework.
Met my fave person from seniors - found her on Friends Reunited. She was bold and brave and I was a wimp - I always looked up to her, but it seems that went both ways. Strange.

My favorite color is purple, all shades as well, even when they are close to being pink or blue.

I went to the dentist 10 days ago, or so, it sucked... broken tooth.

I collect coins, interesting coins, just ones I like and all the US Quarters, of all our states. I also collect sand from beaches I have been to or hope to go to.

I can't think of anyone from my school days that I would want to visit with. That is a sad thought, I think.

My best friend from high school is still my best friend - I'm very lucky!

She's coming over tonight with homemade cheesecake and a bottle of wine :)

PS - heheh, I had a thing for drummers too. Roger Taylor, Jon Moss (Culture Club) and of course Larry Mullens of U2 - he was my fav and he's still gorgeous!

Not sure there's anyone from those days I'd like to catch up with cause we all did that at a class reunion, and that was enough for me.

I love ALL shades of purple and lavender...Very Peaceful Color!
